Day 1 - 4
Arrive in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi.
- Rest and acclimatize to the local time and weather.
- Visit the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre to learn about conservation efforts and see rescued animals.
- Transfer you to Majete Wildlife Reserve, one of the outstanding success stories of African conservation. You will spend two nights of your experience here.
- Undiscovered by tourists, Majete is a true wilderness where every trip into the bush with a team of experienced guides will feel like an adventure.
- Embark on game drives to see the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino).
- Engage in community visits to learn how the park is impacting the communities
- Spend nights at either Mkulumadzi or Thawale
One night: Lilongwe and Two nights at either Mkulumadzi or Thawale
Day 5 - 7
Majete Wildlife Reserve
- Transferred from Majete Wildlife Reserve to the wonderful and historic home, Huntingdon House in Satemwa Tea Estates
- Go for guided walks around the estates, play croquet on the lawn, take a tour of the coffee factory and do some tea tasting.
- Don’t forget to take a trip up to the picnic spot for sundowners for a bird’s eye view of the estate and far beyond.
- Willing to take an outdoor challenge? You can also opt to take a day trip to Mount Mulanje and do some hiking before heading back to the house to enjoy a home cooked meal and a tea/coffee related cocktail by the fire in the drawing room.
Two nights: Huntingdon House
Day 8 - 10
Liwonde National Park
- Drive to Liwonde National Park, renowned for its riverine and floodplain ecosystems.
- Enjoy boat safaris on the Shire River, offering opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species.
- Take a game drive to spot elephants, lions, and other wildlife.
- Up bright and early the next morning for your morning activity, choose from game drives, walking safaris or boating safaris!
- After your activity, hop in the swimming pool or do some birding on your private deck before lunch.
- After lunch, why not have a siesta or read a book by the pool before your evening activity.
- Game drive and dinner and a good nights’ sleep lay ahead.
Two nights: Mvuu Lodge
Day 11
Zebra Island Lodge
- Drive to Lake Malawi, one of Africa’s Great Lakes.
- Relax on the shores of the lake and enjoy water-based activities like snorkeling, kayaking, or sailing.
- Explore local villages and markets to experience Malawi’s culture.
- Take advantage of all the exciting water-based activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking or a sunset cruise. Or set off on foot into the depths of this uninhabited island and explore the natural wonders within. Embark on one of the many nature trails and discover hidden beaches, caves and exquisite birdlife before settling in for a sundowner gin & tonic.
